Legislator's Top Ten Reasons Why You Should Not Attend Lobby Day!

10.  Think of the freedom you will have when you're the only one left in the office while others are taking their time to fight!

 9.  Someone has to stay behind and do their job!  Otherwise, I get calls in my office from mad constituents.

 8.  It's easier to coast on through, isn't it?  Getting leave approved, expensive gasoline and the long drive....

 7.  I've got your best interests at heart and I know what you need.  Don't worry....

 6.  There is no money for a pay raise, so don't bother!

 5.  We are 100% perfect and don't need state employees bringing us down!

 4.  Oklahoma has too many state employees and you will be proving it!

 3.  It's the other party's fault.  I support you recieving a pay raise.  You should spend your efforts talking to them.

 2.  We need the money to get the teachers to the regional average!

 1.  It is much easier for us to take something away if you're not looking!

Do you have anything to add?

A couple of hours at the Captiol informing legislators of the desperate need to retain the employee benefit alowance and provide a cost of living increase to help offset past inflation and this year's 6-12% (based on January 2008) inflation, is entirely too much time away from your essential paperwork.

The way I see it is that the government dont want to take out the money from their pocket, So therefor theysay well we get all the benifit and the retirement but well take it from the people who we work for. We can give ourselves a pay raise but the others they are not worth it. that is what it appears to me that they're saying is they dont care about us but their greedy selves. Why don't we cut their pay and benifit and see how the like it.

i resent this article a little bit. some of us do have assingments that won't allow us out of the office and yes some of us do have to stay behind and do the work. the Department of Human services is not allowed to close between 8 and 5 for any reason and per our Director a human being has to answer the phone during those hours. so yes some of us do have to stay behind and do the work.

It was just a great opportunity and worth an annual leave day to visit with and hear our elected oficials. It used to be that just one letter to a legislator representated 10 not sent on the same topic. Just think how much more our bodily presence speaks!! How many other organizations or stations in life offer a chance to speak on important issues that impact so many good people? I feel it is a privilege to participate.
